For those units that support the C-Map chart plotting chips, they have a system that you may not be aware of called "C-MAP Genesis" think of it as Social SONAR Mapping" where the community uploads their SONAR data for sharing so everyone involved in the project have much better contour and depth soundings

What I really like is the quality of the map (once you zoom in) on the areas you would like to see, if any more detailed sonar data is present? And if not, I think you will still be surprised to see just how well the Social Map works just for general navigation for areas along the Coast for example.
