question about genmar

i own a triumph center console 17 i recently went to my dealer to order the livewell seat cushion and back piece was tiold it would take 5-6 weeks, after a 5 week wait i called my dealer to be told that due to genmar going chapter 11 the parts were hard to get in. This makes me nervous being my boat is 3 years old did i buy a useless piece of junk? what good is a hull warrrantee if i cant even replace my seat cushions? i am very disappointed and hope someone can give me good news about my triumph

Contact Merritt Marine in Hillsborough, NC about your seat cushion. They have the largest inventory of previous year model cushions and parts and they recently started an upholstery division in their company to make custom cushion sets.

Genmar is in Chapter 11 which is better than Chapter 13. Hopefully they will survive the reorganization and folks at the factory will be able to get back to work. Imagine how disappointed the Triumph factory folks that have been laid off are. Triumph has had to discontinue their support of this website, because of their parent company's bankruptcy. Nothing in this economy is for certain but we're all hoping for the best.

Does your boat run? If so it is hardly a "useless piece of junk". It is still the "world's toughest boat."

I hope you're not towing your 3 year old Triumph with a new Chevrolet or GMC truck!!!! The good news is that your Triumph is probably the easiest boat to maintain that you could own. You can repair it with a piece of plastic and a plastic welder from Harbor Freight tools.Relax and enjoy your toy.

Triumph better than most

Having owned a number of other boat brands in my life, I'll take my Triumph over them all. My "service" experience with them was dismal and a number of the other brands also went out of business or were bought out then discontinued. When I bought my 191FS, I looked for a boat that would not require maintenance as long as I took reasonable care of it (read NO WOOD). Being able to repair it myself has been a plus!

Sure the "lifetime" guarantee was a selling point, but is anything ever really guaranteed for life? I just took the guarantee to mean that if they were willing to put their reputation out there, it was probably a good indication on how long the boat would really last me.

Irwin Jacobs said that Genmar factories will be back operating july 6. Boat test .com has a good interview with him at this url Genmar Interview with Irwin Jacobs, June 2009 | BoatTEST.com Genmar has over 600 mill in assets and debts to the banks of only 65 mill. he also said that he and two other put over 40 mill of their own money into the company well before they had to file chap 11. They sound like they are in pretty good shapel

OOH NOEZ! My boat and my GMC tow vehicle are now both useless pieces of junk! ...Wait, that means they cancel each other out. Must be why they both still work.

follow up on my seat cushions

just like to passs on that i contacted merritt marine and they are shipping me out the cushions i needed with no problems but still am concerned chapter 11 is just a way to keep crediters of there back side till they can shut down and yes i do drive s chevyu truck just my luck lol thanks to all for there input and i do love my triumph
