NC Pamlico Sound/Neuse River Red Drum

Finally took a break and went fishing last week for three days. We caught eight Old Red Drum and had a great time. Here are a couple of photos of these beautiful fish.

And I bet a few of those puppies were a real war on the end of a line... Now are those legal to take home Reds in NC Randy? If so, we would have dinner for a few weeks with those hounds

Nope. The slot size in NC is 18"-27" and one per day. The smallest we caught was 38", but we were happy to let them go to catch another day.

Great JOB! We will be heading down to the island to catch some of those monsters the first of October and then stab some Flounder!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait.....

Nice pictures, We obviously do not have those fish out west, I assume they are good eating...gosh those are big.

The slot size are delicious. The Old Red Drum that we caught are protected. Old timers on the Outer Banks used to cook Drum stew with them, but they were considered a nuisance for many years. The Red Drum is NC's state fish. Here is an article about them for anyone interested:

Ah those full moon August weekends, I remember them well!!!!! need to make time for the meteor showers next month--spectacular light show and screaming reels!!!!
