If anyone out there fishes the Boston Area I was out twice this weekend and there are a ton of Striped Bass out there. Most of them are small but we also found some larger ones hanging out below the school like the lazy cows that they are. Can't wait to get out there again!

Were you using "the deadly Santini lures"? They should be outlawed they are that good. Send some of those fish up here for the long weekend!
Thanks, Mike

I used them in one spot but no luck. We caught most of the bass drifting over schools and casting sluggos on light tackle. I have just started using the tubes w/ a downrigger but whenever possible I go with light tackle. I'm going to try a surfcasting in the outer cape this weekend. Hope you get some bass up north soon!

Went on the "Maiden Voyage" up here last weekend and caught 9 stipers, 2 small slot size the rest schoolies. Moved outside a bit and got into the horse mackeral. It's been a long time. Yee-Haa !!!

Nice! I missed out on the Mackeral so far this year but we've started nailing good sized flounder now. If you ever fish the Boston Harbor area let me know and I'll try and help you out.

Mackeral and Schoolies are all over the place up here. The New Meadows river is loaded with Pogies, the Blues should be right behind them. I use to fish in and around all the harbor islands in the late 80's and early 90's before shifting to the north. I use to get flounder on the inside of Green Island and Blues on the outside of George's.
Best of Luck this summa' and "Get a Big One".

It's official, summer is here. The blues and the dogs have made it Boston.

Hi Mike, This is Mel in North Carolina, I'm headed up to handcock Maine this next wed. how far is that from the coast of Maine? I have a210cc but I'm not taking her up this trip, just going for a little vacation. Plan on doing the new England states and then I will have done the entire 50.

Hi Mel,

If you are referring to "Hancock" maine than you are on the coast. If your travel plan includes heading North on US Rt. 1 to get to Hancock than you are right on the coast and in my opinion in one of the prettiest places around. If you like good inexpensive food eat at Ruth & Wimpy's. It's on Rt. 1 in Hancock. Like most states we have lots of little towns. there may be a "Handcock" Maine that I'm not familiar with. The key is Rt. 1. if your traveling on that, then you are on the coast. It should not be too crowded on a Wednesday, but expect some delays going through some of the smaller towns. Enjoy!!

Mel,
Yup you saved the best for last, that whole area is awesome. Definatley hit Ruth & Wimpy's (you won't believe the prices) and you'll have to go to Arcadia Nat'l Park. It is a must see. Make sure you go up Cadilliac Mountain and bring a camera. Also visit "Thunder Hole" along the shore line in the park. Just to give you an idea where and how far it is it's about 3 to 4 hours north of Portland. I'm sure you will have many famous Lobster rolls while you are here. (Looks like some hungry kids in the photo!)
Enjoy your trip and let us know how you liked it when you get back.

Thanks for the reply Gentlemen, I'm going to try your suggestions, looking forward to a great time in your beautiful state (from the pictures I've seen) you know,I love this web site. Check it out every day and have found much useful information on it, my Triumph 210 with a Suzkie 140 has been a great pleasure for me and my family just wish I could say the same for the trailer. Went on a short trip this past weekend and the right rear brake was so scrubbing the drum that was to hot to touch when I got home. Guess I will be going to disc brakes before the next trip. Thanks again for the reply. CYA, Mel

Yeah I started picking up the blue's out there about 2 weeks ago. One of them ruined my favorite umbrella rig before I realized they were out there. I haven't had too much trouble with Dogs yet but I didn't make it out there last weekend. I'm heading out again this weekend including some night fishing with live eels. Hopefully they don't get wasted by the blue fish.
