I live where it is warm basically 340 days out of the year
Be that as it may, even I do not get to spend as much time on the boat as I would like... Worse yet, my boat will set for weeks on end (bummer) and not get used just like many of you.
So, when I take off the cover I put a lot of importance on everything being clean and in full working order so I am in the process of switching out my 190 to having nothing but Odyssey Batteries for both my 2 main start batteries (which is already done) and 2 more for the trolling motor.
Now not cheap process by any means, but is it really all that expensive in the long run? How much importance do you put on your free time? How much importance do you put on having "all" of your equipment (trolling motor included) working this after banging your present batteries to death when running across the chop. We have to be logical here and realize that a boat (take it from a Coastie) unlike your truck, can take a major beating and even having items secured though will help, still will not make up for lack of back bone (quality) when flying though the surf.
So here is a educational read on the Odyssey Batteries (also see attached) and how they are built as compared to the other products on the market today...

And much like the old FRAM commercial use to say "You can pay a little now or a lot latter" also applies.
The last thing I want to do "again" is to finally have a day off work to go fishing, and either the boat will not start OR like the last time, the trolling motor was dead even though the charger had been on the batteries to keep them all (in theory) ready for use... You decide, but for me all I want to to do is hitch up the boat and go! This and NOT mess around with swapping batteries and stuff at the last min (burning fishing time) for no logical reason... The extra dollars spent for quality today, will go a long way to how happy you are with your boat next month
