Two days of fishing. First day 22 miles offshore, 74F and 20 kings, 2 big amberjacks, shark, 1 grouper and 3 FA...............great day to be on the water. My deck hands said the TRIUMPH catches more fish. I tend to agree.

2nd day, fished nearshore up to 3 miles. 16 Spaniards, 2 bonito and a 6 lb blue.....what a fight on 12lb light tackle. Called it a day by 9am and headed for Charlotte.

Again, the Triumph triumped.

Life is good in the Carolinas!

Way to go! :D

Way to go Gator!!!
I'm glad someone got offshore and busted em up. I'm hoping the winds will lay down enough to let my 170CC grab some Spanish on Saturday out of Carolina Beach. Life is good in the Carolinas.

Have you fish around the Caroline beach inlet any. I'm going this wk.end and thought I'd try for some Spanish.

I haven't fished CB much. One time LY in summer and nothing. But, I read reports of Spaniards being caught south of the inlet near a place called Sheephead Rock. I think it's 10 miles +/- south of CB.
If you want to catch Spaniards near CB; I'd make the 5-6 mile run north to the Liberty Ship area, just 3 miles north of the Masonboro Inlet. That's where we caught that mess this past week and they were thick!

Good luck!

carolina beach

thanks for the info. I can't go out far because I have only a 17' montaulk but I do fish Sheephead rock. Thats been a great fishing spot for years. About 1000 yrs. N. of the rock there's either a barge or old ship not even listed that enhabits lots of black bass. Love those black bass to eat. I'll have to try for spanish there. I have to be care because the carolina beach inlet can get treturous in a hurry and my little whaler might not like it.

thanks for info. I'll give that a try sometime.
How far south of CB inlet is the Sheephead rock?

sheephead rock

its about 12 miles. Just line up w/ the sea buoy and go s. Its marked on GPS,

Some try to go across the shoals to south port but I wouldn't suggest that. You have to really know the waters well. I've see some boats lying on their sides over the yrs.
