SOOOooo, Anyone from the San Diego / southern CA area going to be in this tourney?? I usually do not do tourneys, But I try most anything at least once. Our team name is East County Renegades.

YT Tourney

Actually, I once took 2nd place in that Tourney. I believe it was in '63 or '64. My 17+ lb. yellowtail was good enough to win me a B&W portable TV! There were only 10-15 yellowtail caught that day. I was on a San Diego party boat of 45 anglers and the only one to catch a yellowtail (got the boat jackpot-$42-as well). I believe the tournament has evolved a bit, but you still should have a good time (when is fishing not a good time?). Personally, I prefer the tournaments in Baja, excluding Cabo Millionaire tournaments. They are simple, competitive, and multi-national. The locals compete as well as the "rich" gringos with their fancy boats. Triumphs, by the way, are considered practical boats as opposed to extravagant boats (who wouldn't want a Grady-White?).
As far as your tourney, play the game and have fun!

Thanks, so far 76 boats have entered...should be a zooooo out there. To make things worse for the tourney, a lot of yellows have been caught around the islands and the 425 bank. Plus some BLUEfin have been caught in the same area. So It will be a very crowed weekend, but it will be all in fun.

How did this tourney go? If anyone is interested in going out this summer, let me know. I'm in central cal, but would come down to check out the so cal action. Will be fishing the channel islands next weekend. Hopefully the white sea bass and maybe some yellows are biting.
