Trailer Recall?

Dick,

I read on the 186/190 forum about the trailer recall for 03'-04' models. What about the pre-Genmar boats that came with Wesco trailers. Mine came from you guys with a 4 bunk Wesco. However there is no forward keel support. I have thought about adding one but havent yet. What are your thoughts on this issue?

Thats exactly what I would like to know. I have seen rollers up front on other trailers for fiberglass boats, and am assuming that is what they are talking about. Dick, could you please help?

The bracket is a galv. assy. that fits over the side rails on the EZ Loader trailer. It has a V bunk arrangement of carpeted wood to support the bow.
It sits about where the H in the Triumph logo is on the right side.
The Wesco trailers have longer center bunks, so a support is not required.
If you have a EZ loader trailer under your 190, have your local dealer see if your trailer is eligible.

I was told by Brian at Triumph that pretty much everything thats not on a 2005 trailer needs work done on them. The reason they are only going from 2002 is because thats when Genmar bought them and when they started selling trailers with the boats. I had to send him pics of my boat and he said that he would send a diagram of whats needed, but thats about all they're going to do for me. :(

Genmar bought Logic in 2000, In 2003 they started to require Dealers to buy a Boat, Motor and Trailer package. Prior to that date, dealers were responsible to put the boats on trailers that meet the factory trailer specs.
We used Wesco trailers that had bunks that were longer down the centerline to support the bow. These boats have the unique capability of returning to the origional configuration when left in the water or on a properly bunked trailer for a few days. Don't forget, this mod. is for the 190 Galv. Trailers only.

Dick, do you have any photos or other documents on what the trailer mods are?

I've got a 2001 Logic 186 Cool Bay with an EZLoader Galvanized Trailer.

Thanks

...You're a good man for posting these pics.

I've been trying to get my dealer to get me the V-bunk, but it appears that they won't since I've got an '02. So Dick, will these eventually be available for purchase from you if I fail in getting it from my dealer? I'm certainly not going to give them any more of my cash based on recent phone-calls with them.

My dealer is no longer a Triumph dealer. He was horrible anyway, so that's no big loss. Todd/Triumph/EzLoader has already rebuilt my trailer once because my idiot dealer only install TWO bunks under the boat. I guess I'm out of luck.

Hey Guys,

I talked to Bryant at Triumph on Friday. He said that in order to sale to the public he would have to have a dealer order the part, then they (Triumph) would have to create a part #. He said that the part would be in the neighborhood of $180-$200. I passed on the notion because I'm not guranteed that it will even work on my trailer (Wesco). I did however set the winch to the correct height, which is 24" from the tongue to the top of the bow eye. I'm in the process of designing/fabricating a bunk for my trailer just to be safe. Dick has assured me that the Wesco is set up ok for the boat though.

BTW, I did get the information from Triumph on 3-11 but I have no way of scanning it into the cpu. It shows all the dimensions.

v-bunk

Dick @ Merritt Marine,
I'm picking up my new 05 170CC ina couple weeks. I like the looks of the V bunk and wondering if it would be prudent to put one on my new trailer not just for support but for a more stable ride when I'm trailoring.

Trailer Recall

I am the second owner of a 2004 Bay 19 and called the Triumph factory today ( 1-800-564-4225) concerning the EZ Loader trailer recall. They will send the bolt-on additional bunk support directly to me. No charge. Triumph sent the recall letter to the original owner who is deceased.
P.S. I did pay the $300.00 warranty transfer fee back in January 05.

Ez loader Recall?

I don't know how I missed this thread, but I finally saw it tonight. What's this recall all about? Looks at first glance to be front V block support rail. Do these support blocks really need to be there or are they for some special circumstances?
I guess this mean another trip to the dealer? Oh joy!! Oh bliss!!

Guy's,
I have the recall letter at home and I can get it and fax it to anyone that desires it. Please let me know. There is nothing to installing the forward support, the big deal is to reposition the winch and stand. I have posted pictures of the winch in the correct position and the letter gives the dimensions.

Does this adjustment to the winch need to be done in conjunction with the installation of the V-Bunk? I ask, because I wouldn't want to do one without the other.

The letter say's to do both. Dealer messed up on the winch but it is no deal to fix yourself.

Could you pdf that fax and send it to me via e-mail? Would greatly appreciate it. It would be nice to have the proof in hand when arriving at the dealership. I'll bet he has no idea of any recall on any of the trailers he's sold....

Thanks in advance
Paul
