Trailer light housing doesn't seem to fit

Another dumb question.
My 2003 15cc has a Triumph trailer and for each tail light I have a nice 90 degree piece of angle iron to securely bolt the light to. Problem is that there is a large bolt in the inboard side of each piece that prevents placement of my rectangular lights completely inside the support. Thus the lights have to stick out the side of each housing 2" thus making them vulnerable to getting hit.
In shopping around I don't see any rectangular lights smaller than the ones I have and the squares would extend below the frame.
My question is: Does Triumph sell a speciality tail light that fits this frame?

I dont think triumph is the maker of the trailer. Triumph just puts their sticker on it. Check your trailer title and it will tell you who the trailer manufacture is. I am sure they will have one that properly fits.

Best of luck

You most likely have an EZ Loader trailer and most boating stores sell replacement lights. I'm not sure the bolt you are talking about, maybe some you could post some pictures?

leds

I hit a curb at the fastfood drive in making my trailer bounce breaking out my taillight lens. I contacted ezloader. They are real nice people but the wanted $27 for one replacement lens. I decided to go to a local store and buy the low profile led lens kit for less than $50.
I actually like the leds better.
The bolts actually fit on a plastic tab and then bolt through the trailer frame. Mine did not stick out that far and fit flush up against the trailer frame.
Let me know if you need some pictures.

I just spent the day redoing my trailer side/clearance lights. I purchased LEDs from Trailer Parts SS (link above). Trouble is I shouldn't have to be doing this on a trailer used 1 year, maybe in the saltwater 25 times and washed/rinsed after every use. I suspect some of the lights were bad but it turns out I had to redo every single splice done at the factory since the inline connectors they used all corroded through and broke. Problems started midway through last season but I just got around to fixing them. The trailer is an EZ Loader. I preferred the lights available from Trailer Parts SS vs those from EZ Load.

Lost another half day of fishing as Saturday morning the whole right side of the trailer was dead. Took 4 hrs to locate another factory installed in-line splice (no apparent reason for this) way up by the hitch area that had corroded. At first I re-checked/re-did all my recent connections for the fear of having screwed it up myself, but another case of the factory using inferior connections. If I ever have to buy another trailer, I'm doing a very thorough inspection of the wiring and not likely to purchase another EZ Loader.

Bummer. You should contact EZ Loader about this situation. They may have an updated wiring solution to deal with this.

My observation from experience is that trailer light harnesses are prone to failure and lights typically will need to be replaced every one-two years. Now, what I have done is completely replaced the factory lighting on my ez-loader with marine-grade tinned copper wire, double-crimp connectors with heat shrink, and LED lights. The only thing that is cheap is the 4-way plug, but that is because I haven't been able to locate crimp pins to redo it. When I launch, I have a small waterproff box i put the disconnected plug into the whole system is now sealed ans has lasted me two years so far. Hopefully it will last many many more.
