Greetings -

I recently picked up an '03 Sportsman in OD and had a '06 Yamaha 50hp 2 stroke put on it. I pick the rig up tomorrow.

We live in Puget Sound where the beaches are stone and a big tide day is 17'. In the past I owned some really nice, really pretty center console laminate boats. They are just not the tool for fly fishing and crabbing the Sound every day. I was considering bringing in a 19' flats boat when this Triumph became available.

All that being said, I joined becaise I will be retro fitting the boat for fly fishing and creating some organization in it as well. The execution could be as simple as junk plywood construction or as sophisticated as honeycomb composite construction - we'll see. I may also end up building my own flats boat, simply because I like things built just so.

I hope to learn from others postings. Thanks!

MPM,
Welcome to the Forum! You will find a wealth of knowledge for Triumph's here and many useful mod's that can be done. Running your new boat up on those stone beaches will never bother you because it won't tear the hull up like a glass boat.
Please post pics of your boat and become familiar with the search function here. Remember that most repairs to your boat can be done with a hand plastic welder from a place like Harbour Freight.
The first purchase I would highly recommend would be the Maintenance DVD that you can get through TackleMonkey on this site!

Welcome aboard MPM. Congratulations on the 170 and welcome aboard!

Welcome Aboard! I have been out in the Sound off Gig Harbor with my brother in-law in a Grady. Some nice fishing up there. I had thought about buying a Grady CC but chose the Triumph instead, and have never regreted it.
