Just got a triumph 17 cc. It has a large hole in the bottom so I’ll be looking for advice on welding it!

Can you post some pictures inside and out, please?

Here you go. Need to pull the deck to expose it. I bought it like this. Anyone know the best source for some LDPE welding rods?

Merritt Marine this is a great source for those welding rods. They used to be a big Triumph dealer, and for a lot of years, maintained a stock of hard to get parts.

That crack looks pretty bad and looks like it's gonna need a lot of prep work.

Fortunately, I never had to weld any of my Triumph's. So I don't have a lot of advice on how to do that. But there are others on this site that do.

As Martin indicated Merritt Marine in Hillsborough, NC is a great resource for info on welding these hulls. There is a short intro video we posted by Triumph (when they were still in business) in the Media section here: https://www.performanceoutdoors.net/media/categories/triumph-boats-media.7/

In addition, Carl Merritt of Merritt Marine does a great demonstration on welding Roplene in our "Maintenance and Modifications DVD" that can be purchased here: https://www.performanceoutdoors.net/pages/dvd/

There is link there for ordering via PayPal. The DVD is $30 which includes shipping.

I hope this helps!

I got a dewalt digital temperature control heat gun and bought some cake decorating tips that I use to put the heat exactly where I want. 250*ish melting point, so I adjust it to 275*-350* depending on many factors to be able to lay it slightly quicker and keep the surrounding material soft to allow proper bonding.

Its difficult to tell exactly what u have going on grom the pictures but I would use wood v groove scrapper for all the cracks between plastic and plastic to give it a deep bed for the welding rod to lay making sure both sides and the bottom of the bed say hot to allow for proper bonding. Can't tell if the brown sections in the pics are just discolored and dirty or foam.
