I have a 170 cc with a yamaha 60 four stroke. Should I trailer with the motor up or down and should I get a transom saver?

Motor Position

If possible, trailer the boat with the motor in the full down (running) position. If sufficient clearance with the road cannot be achieved, You can tilt the motor up provided it rests on an additional support bracket (i.e. Transom Saver). Do not rely on the trim hydraulics, tilt pin, or motor lock to hold the motor in a raised position while trailering the boat.

Fly Fisher,
Use the search tab at the top of the page and type in transom saver Read what everyone has posted about it before. There is a lot of info there. Check your owners manual for the outboard and see what they recommend also. I personally use the MyWedge on my 195CC.
