Mangled hitch ball

Just got my 195CC two days ago, and when I detached the trailer, it was next to impossible to get the hitch to release the ball. I had to detach the entire receiver and only then could I get the latch up to release the ball. When I pulled the ball and receiver off, I noticed several deep gouges in the ball from the hitch. I'm a new boater, so I have no idea what's causing this, or what to do. Any suggestions?

I'd check for any obvious flaws in your hitch confirm your ball is the right size and be sure to grease the ball. Also chalk the wheels of the trailer and take any tension off the hitch before unhooking.
Good Luck

I've got a SAE standard 2" ball, and the coupler says 2" right on it. The dealer wants me to bring the trailer back in for repairs. I'll be doing that as soon as I can.

If all repairs go well, I would invest in the balls that are removeable, for different sizes. they have a ball bearing set up, which I like better. This way the tongue is turning on the bearings instead of the ball. Much smoother action.

Peek up inside the coupler and see (some can) if you can adjust how it grabs the ball. Sounds like it is too tight and there is a happy medium for sure... This for if it becomes too loose, it then feels as if you are getting bumped into every time you hit the brakes  so it may take some time and adjustments to get it just right  I also put a little white marine grease on the ball, and then use a simple plastic cover to help keep it from drying all out all the time I am not towing the boat.

Easy fix

You're right, 'puter... It was just the coupler needed to be adjusted a bit. It was way too tight. A couple of turns looser, and it was working perfectly.:D
