Does anyone know if you can use glides on your trailer bunks
i heard they make it very easy to push your boat off the trailer or will it hurt the boat sitting on them
The polymer glide on type pads are designed to minimize the contact area so the surfaces will slide more easily. Roplene hulls need as much support as possible, not less. And the roplene is more flexible than fiberglass. the narrow surface of the pads would tend to dimple the area of contact. Roplene is softer than fiberglass/gelcoat and the Roplene and polymer materials may in fact cause more, instead of less friction. I would find a way to test the pads on roplene for sliding ease when heavily weighted. And I would only use it if the pads completely covered the bunks to provide maximum support. An easier method is to just use a lube on the bunks. Soap, liquid rollers, Pam, etc. etc. Whatever you use.........make sure to back the boat into the water before you release the winch.
