I'm picking up a little Triumph 150CC in a few weeks, done deal. Yamaha 50 horse 2 stroke with low hours. Bimini top. Wanted a small boat that would be easy to launch/retrieve alone. My 5th boat in 33 years and the smallest by far. I look forward to using it. Im going to have some questions, the first of which is.......
does it need trim tabs? Will have 4 people on board often.
Fortunately for me, I live an hour from Merritt's boat shop. I'm also going to want to try locating the bow seat for fishing.

Congrats on the new plastic. I have a 170cc and don't have trim tabs so I can't answer that BUT... I did put a Bob's Machine Shop stabilizer plate on my Yam 60 and it was a vast improvement in handling. Gets on plane quicker, handles chop better. Highly recommend it. Do a search on this site. Was a little leery about drilling the cav plate but take your time. Play with your trim quite a bit afterwards to get used to it. Never felt the need for trim tabs after that.

Went to Merrtt's today and got some stuff to help the new lettering for license stick to the plastic. While I was there I priced a front pedestal seat for fishing. Also asked about trim tabs and was told to get the Smart Tabs and nothing else. That's probably the route I'll take unless someone that's used both the Smart tabs and the Bob's Machine Shop stabilizer plate and can tell me for sure which is better.
