ANT mount for T-Top

Has anybody mounted a VHF antenna to the T-top? Did you use the top 1 1/4" rail or, the bottom 1" rail? I have a Shakespheare SS mount for 7/8-1" but it doesn't want to fit without crushing the tube, it's a brand new boat and I dont want to abuse it before it even gets in the water!

vhf rail mount

I just had my vhf installed by the marina were i purchased my boat they installed the rail mount made by shakespere #4188-sl which will fit rails up to 1.5'' and they installed on the top rail of the t-top the dealer charged me 68$ for mine but i seen it online at boatersland.com for 49$
